Success at the ILC
We are pleased to share that Leonard Cao achieved an excellent result in the Qualification Round of the International Linguistics Challenge (ILC), an international competition that invites students to solve analytical problems about language and linguistics.
The Qualification Round is the first stage of the competition. Participants tackle five challenging linguistic problems that require careful reasoning about language structure, patterns, phonetics, syntax, morphology, semantics, and more. Each problem tests both analytical thinking and linguistic insight, and students must explain their reasoning clearly in written form. All participants receive certificates, and those who score above a high threshold qualify for the next round and may be specially recognized.
Leonard’s submission was selected as one of the featured contributions published by the organizers. His work stands out for its careful analysis, clear structure, and well-argued solutions to the linguistic problems. We congratulate Leonard on this achievement and wish him all the best for the next round of the competition.
Wir freuen uns, mitteilen zu können, dass Leonard Cao in der Qualifikationsrunde der Internationalen Linguistics Challenge (ILC) ein sehr gutes Ergebnis erzielt hat. Der Wettbewerb richtet sich international an Schüler:innen, die sich mit analytischen Fragestellungen aus der Sprachwissenschaft beschäftigen.
In der Qualifikationsrunde bearbeiten die Teilnehmer:innen mehrere linguistische Aufgaben, bei denen es darum geht, unbekannte Sprachen zu analysieren, sprachliche Muster zu erkennen und die eigenen Schlussfolgerungen präzise und nachvollziehbar zu begründen. Gefordert sind dabei logisches Denken, sprachwissenschaftliches Interesse und eine klare schriftliche Darstellung.
Leonards Beitrag wurde von den Veranstalter:innen als besonders gelungene Einsendung ausgewählt und auf der Website des Wettbewerbs veröffentlicht. Seine Lösung überzeugte durch eine strukturierte Vorgehensweise und präzise Argumentation. Wir gratulieren Leonard zu diesem Erfolg und wünschen ihm viel Erfolg für die nächste Wettbewerbsrunde.
